Other than that, I was surprised at how little time it took to rehearse the booktalks, especially because I'm not a particularly comfortable public speaker. I can do it, and I actually really enjoy it once I've started, but it simply makes me more nervous than the average person. I really thought it would take longer to get it on camera, but I discovered that the longest time investment was determining the best way to record and publish them, rather than actually doing the talks themselves. I do think it's a bit easier to do them extemporaneously, rather than rehearsed like these were, since there's less pressure to get them perfect and you can count on your audience to be a lot more responsive than a computer screen.
All in all, it was a fun experience, and I'm seriously considering making this a regular habit!

Here are my three booktalks for this week's assignment, or it's embedded below! Enjoy!
Great job! I am glad for you that you enjoyed it. How cool is that? My mind ran more when I was sitting in front of the camera than when I am attempting to help a patron, so I know vlogging is not in my future. :)
ReplyDeleteIronically, I just finished the book Sunshine. I am an avid paranormal reader and I love vampire fiction. I did enjoy this book but was disappointed in the ending. I wanted to know what happened next!! Without giving too much away for those that have not read it....I was hoping that she ended up with Constantine!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually love when books end that way; it's probably why I loved that one so much. When all the loose ends are tied up and there's nothing left to wonder, I forget about the book pretty quickly. It's when I have that feeling of want to know what happened next that a book sticks with me. As for whether she ends up with Con…I always saw the thread of romance as secondary to the plot, so I wasn't really disappointed at the ambiguous ending.
DeleteGlad to hear that you enjoyed it too - it's always fun to talk about my favorite books with someone else who enjoyed it!
I enjoyed your booktalk even though it was hard to see the books that you were showing. You have a way of making the books sound very interesting. I used to watch True Blood and I know they have Stackhouse books at the library. I haven't heard of Sunshine, but it sounds like a great book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the critique! Once our grades are posted, I'll add in some screen shots of each of the books. The one thing that I couldn't change was the fact that all the books appeared backwards, so I didn't want to spend too much time showing off a book that had a backwards cover. I think adding in some photos during the booktalks will help with that a bit.
